Camellia Japonica

Flowering generally begins in April. Ideally c.Japonica should be grown in the shade of tall trees that will provide morning shade or filtered, dappled shade. Direct winter sun can cause burning of blooms in white or pale pink cultivars. Protection from strong winds is advisable. Some varieties like reds are more sun tolerant than the paler colours. Please consult camellia society for further advice.
